New York, USA
Death: Dec. 2, 1946
St. Lawrence County
New York, USA

There were three children from this marriage: Barbara (1891-1891), who died in infancy and is buried with her parents, Elizabeth Rose, who also died in infancy (1895-1895), and a son Newell Priest Allen.
JUNE 27, 1890.
Professor Freeman H. Allen and Miss Rose Priest, were married at the residence of the bride's mother on Leroy street Thursday afternoon, Rev. C. E. Bascom officiating. Only a few intimate friends were present at the ceremony, but a much larger number attended the reception which followed. Both young people are well and favorably known in this community and the good wishes of a host of friends accompany them. After a short vacation they will return to Potsdam, where Professor Allen has engaged to teach in the Normal School for another year. Congratulations.

Mrs. Freeman H. Allen, Rose Priest, born in Potsdam June 1, 1861, daughter of Captain Luther and Elizabeth Rose Priest, died at St. John's Hospital, Ogdensburg, Tuesday. Mrs. Allen was educated in the Potsdam schools, including the Normal, and on June 26, 1890, married Freeman H. Allen, then a professor in the Normal school. They lived here on Leroy St. on the site of former Fred R. Sisson's house, now owned by Dr. Watkins until 1909 when Prof. Allen was called to head the department of history and political science in Colgate university at Hamilton, which position he held until his death in 1942. Mrs. Allen later moved to Ogdensburg where she has since resided. Dr. and Mrs. Allen were both very active in all social and community matters while in Potsdam and were devoted members of the Baptist church here, both having fine musical talents and were active members of the church choir. Mrs. Allen was an ideal help-mate and the Allen home was known everywhere as most friendly and hospitable.
A son, Newell P. Allen, of Ogdensburg, and a grandson, Richard D. Allen, who is serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific area, survive, as do also two nephews, W. Allen Newell and Albert P. Newell of Ogdensburg. Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Newell P. Allen, in Ogdensburg Thursday afternoon, Rev. A. E. Kelly, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating with burial in Bayside cemetery, Potsdam.
