The police are seeking clues to the disappearance Monday of Mrs. Lilybelle Gattis, 55, of 2536 Ventura Avenue, a part time office worker.

Friends of Mrs. Gattis reported her missing after they made a vain attempt to deliver Christmas Gifts at the house where she has lived alone for the last 12 years. They said she last was seen Sunday when she visited briefly with neighbors.

They described her as about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds with brown eyes and graying hair worn drawn tightly back into a bun. She wears pincnez glasses. The friends say she would be dressed neatly in plain, dark clothing.

They said they are concerned because she was in the habit of attending lectures and meetings and walking home alone, no matter how late the hour.

Police reports show December 14th she was struck by a man who followed her in the 600 block of N. Street as she was returning home about 1 AM. She told the officers the man did not knock her down and she ran from him screaming, and he fled.

Mrs. Gattis and her husband, Leonard, believed by her friends to be dead, operated a grocery store near her home for many years. He was a competitor in the C. C. Pyle Coast to Coast Marathon in 1928.
