One of Oldest Employees of Lehigh Valley Coal Co. Taken by Death
    Evan A. Price, an employe of the Lehigh Valley Coal Company for a half century, an authority on mining, died this morning at his home, 18 Maffet street, Plains. He had been Ill for 10 days, passing away at 8:25 o'clock this morning from complications.
    Born 74 years ago, in Glemorganshire, Wales, he settled in Plains, as a young man, 50 years ago, and had continuously made it his home. Entering the service of the Lehigh Valley Coal Company, very soon, he rapidly advanced in rank, having had mining experience in Wales. Before many years had elapsed he was made a superintendent, a position which he held for 85 years.
    Mr. Price was assigned to the Prospect workings which include numerous shafts, and was the superintendent of the plant, one of the very largest under the Lehigh Valley Coal Company. He was promoted, more than ten years ago, to the staff of the general manager of the company, an special investigator of safety in the Wilkes-Barre district of the corporation.
    While prominent and popular in numerous circles, Mr. Price became connected with but one organization: Landmark Lodge, No. 442, of the F, & A. Masons, being also a member of he Masonic Consistory.
    Surviving Mr. Price are his widow and the following children: David Price, of Scranton; Mrs. Matthew Angle, of Plains: Mrs. David Thomas and Evan A. Price, Jr., who reside at the family home.
    The funeral service will be held at the home, 18 Maffett street. Plains, on Saturday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Hollenback cemetery.
