Carolyn L. Griffin
Lifelong homemaker enjoyed crocheting
Carolyn L. Griffin, 66, of West Front Street, Berwick passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient three weeks and had been seriously ill for the past year.
Born on Sept. 7, 1944, in Shickshinny, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Betty Jean (Rex) Price. She graduated from Berwick High School in 1962.
In her early years, she resided in the Shickshinny area, later moving to rural Berwick for many years. She lived in Illinois and Iowa for 15 years, returning to Berwick after the death of her husband, George Griffin, in 2005.
Carolyn was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She also had been employed for several years by the Bechtel Corporation at the PP&L power plant, Bell Bend, during mid-1970s.
Earlier in life, she was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Salem Township.
Her husband, George Griffin, died on April 12, 2005.
Surviving are sons: Michael Schmidt and his wife, Tracy, and Chad Schmidt and his wife, Ann, all of Berwick; Mark Schmidt and his wife, Heidi, Lancaster; step-sons: Steve Griffin and his wife, Cathy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Scott Griffin, Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; brothers: Robert B. Price and his wife, Karen, and Kenneth Price and his wife, Amy, all of Berwick; two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. from the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home, 1024 Market St., Berwick, with Pastor Dean A. Walrath officiating. Interment will follow in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn, Shickshinny. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
