Death of Llewellyn Price
After suffering for upwards of five weeks, thirty-three days of which he lay unconscious, Llewellyn Price died on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was stricken with typhoid fever five weeks ago, but under the care of his physician and a trained nurse he rapidly recovered from that malady but later lapsed into total unconsciousness, in which condition he lay for an entire week, at the end of which time he came to and a few minutes later went back to the same condition. Another nurse was then secured and the two, Miss Connole of this place and Miss Hoban of Wilkes-Barre, with the physician, did everything possible known to their science to bring him back to health, but without avail.
Last Friday he grew weaker rapidly and it was found necessary to administer oxygen to keep him alive, but death from heart failure finally ended his sufferings. Deceased was one of the best known residents of the valley and filled the position of inside foreman at the Chauncey mine at Avondale, Plymouth Township, for one year and eight months, prior to which time he was foreman at the Franklin and Henry collieries of the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. During the campaign of 1894 he was a candidate for the nomination for county recorder in the Republican county convention but withdrew his name for the sake of having the ticket stronger geographically. He was 47 years of age and is survived by a widow and one brother, Evan, the latter of Plains. He was a member of the Christian Church of this town and a prayer meeting will be held at the house on Church street this evening. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon, with services at the house at 2 o'clock. conducted by Rev. L. O. Knipp. Interment will be in the family plot in Hollenback Cemetery.
