Plains Resident Dies at Hazleton
Ill three months, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis Price, of 38 North Main street, Plains, died yesterday afternoon at 4:30 at the home of her son. Harold L. Price, 738 West Diamond street, Hazleton.
Mrs. Price was the widow of Hugh Price. former superintendent of Dorrance Colliery of Lehigh Valley Coal Company, who died 20 years ago.
Born at Spring Brook, she removed to Plains at an early age. After graduating from Bloomsburg State Teachers' College in 1888, she taught school in Plains for some years. She was a member of Miner Congregational Church and its Board of Deacons. She also was a teacher of Dr. Davies Bible Class for 20 years and was active in the Ladies Aid Society.
Mrs. Price was a member of Chapter 1. Order of Eastern Star, at Pittston and was a past Matron of that chapter. She was also affiliated with the Knights Templar Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Harold Lewis Price, of Hazleton and Thomas Edward Price of Pelham Manor, N. Y.; also a sister, Mrs. Harry Eaton, of Plains and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the family home Saturday afternoon at 2. Rev. Robert Chamberlin will officiate, assisted by Rev. Lorenzo D. Thomas. of Tunkhannock, a former pastor of Miner Church. Interment will be in Hollenback Cemetery.
