Mrs. Cogburn was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Carbon to Charley Crofford Prestridge and Susie Melvina Gray Prestridge.
After her graduation from Anson High School, she moved to Lubbock where she met her husband of 63 years, Arnold Cogburn. They were married Dec. 21, 1940, in Lubbock.
Mrs. Cogburn, known as Nan-Naw by all of her descendants, was baptized into the kingdom of her Lord in August 1938. She spent her entire life serving others, starting as a child helping her dad deliver milk and vegetables in season to neighbors who were less fortunate than they were. A quote found in her Bible stated, "The happiest heart is the heart that serves others." No other words could better describe the Nan-Naw.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaylon Prestridge and Schoy Prestridge; and a granddaughter, Marlena Moore.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Charles Cogburn and wife, Nancy, of Lamar, Ark., Jerry Cogburn and wife, Carolyn, of Amarillo, and Gaylord Cogburn and wife, Eunice, of Happy; a daughter, Katie Sue McClellan and her husband, Larry, of Plano; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored; and a sister, Gwendola Hickerson of Baird.
