Alden Preston
Birth: Jan., 1873
Passaic County
New Jersey, USA
Death: Sep., 1873

Son of
George Albert Preston and
Mary Bridget Hickey Preston.

Brother of
Percival Preston 1892
Eva Preston Lewis 1880
Mame Preston Walker 1876
William Harvey Preston 1869

Alden was my grand-uncle

Alden was the mystery in the Preston family. A cousin found him and I'm not sure if his sisters and youngest brother even knew about him. He was born in 1873, with his older brother Will being born in 1869, so Will was alive, but the other children came after Alden. My grandpa, the youngest of the Preston children never mentioned a brother Alden. The 1900 census has Mary and George having 5 children of which only 4 were living. Recently when I finally located Alden's grave (he's buried with his mom and dad but his name is not on the stone) Alden was only 9 months old when he died. I believe he was buried in Sandy Hill Cemetery later to be joined by his mother. When Sandy Hill cemetery closed their bodies were reintered in Cedar Lawn together.

Alden, I hope you know you are remembered even after all these years. I'm glad I finally found you and that the family knows grandpa had an older brother. The family always knew of your niece Dorothy and have held her in our hearts, now we can do the same...(Read more)
