Martha Ellen Preston was born on 22 January 1949, along with her twin sister, Mary, in Evansville, Indiana to Martha Sanford (Webb) Gatewood and Charles Gatewood. God called Martha to her heavenly home on April 23, 2012.

She was educated in the Indiana School System. She also attained a degree in Child Development and worked with children in Germany, Guam and throughout the United States while traveling with her military career husband. Her heart's desire was to travel to Israel, and God granted her that desire in November 2008. She was a very devoted wife and mother and loved her family. Knowing Christ was her goal after she united with the family of God at The Shield of Faith Church.

Her passion was creativity in painting, cooking, traveling and unique ideas for sharing with others.

Preceding her in death were her Father, Mother and Brother Roger Lynch.

Martha leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Willie; son Glynn; two sisters Emma Curd (Paul) of Evansville, IN and Mary Hosley (Al) of Detroit, MI; sister-in-law Elizabeth Lynch of Evansville, IN; a very special Aunt and cousin, Carolyn Easter of Little Rock, AR and Janice Wilkes of Pine Bluff, AR; two goddaughters, Shelia Adams of Charleston, SC and Trazett Warfield of Evansville, IN; devoted friends and neighbors, Melissa and Eddie Henderson of Ladson, SC; five granddaughters, two great great granddaughters, one grandson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
