Delmer Pressley 'Tack Hammer'

Delmer Dennis Pressley, 70, of 195 Center Pigeon Road, Canton, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Dennis Pressley and Veldia Shipman Pressley Biddix. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hubert A. Pressley.

He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church, a former employee of American Enka Corp., a self-employed trucker for 30 years, as well as owner-operator of Pressley Upholstery. He was also a member of the Pisgah Camping Club, a kind and gentle man, who loved his family and was a friend to many. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean and Vietnam era while serving as a gunners mate on the USS Taylor while stationed in Pearl Harbor.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Rev. Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
