SULPHUR — A memorial service will be celebrated for Mr. James J. Prejean Jr., 54, at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in Robison Funeral Home. Cremation was under the direction of Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon St., Sulphur, in accordance with his wishes. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Prejean passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Sulphur, following a long illness. He was born in Lake Charles, was a resident of Sulphur and spent most of his life in southern Louisiana. Mr. Prejean served in the Army Green Beret Special Forces during he Vietnam War. He was the recipient of four Purple Heart medals. He was a proud member of the Ameri-can Legion for more than 30 years and also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisher-man and Cajun cook. Mr. Prejean worked in telecom-munications for BellSouth for a number of years and later for companies he created. He enjoyed a char-ter fishing business, had interests in oil field opera-tions and developed a line of solvents. He retired as an industrial electrician.
In lieu of flowers, dona-tions may be made to Ameri-can Legion Post 179, 1403 W. Napoleon St., Sulphur, LA 70663.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Prejean Sr. and Eura Faul Prejean Buxton.
Survivors include two sons, James J. " Jay " Prejean III and wife Claudette of Tucson, Ariz., and Matthew Paul Prejean of Lake Charles; one sister, Debra Prejean of Baton Rouge; and two brothers, Charles Prejean of Baton Rouge and Carl Prejean of Lake Charles.
