Lorraine Mae Chase went to be with her Heavenly Father June 28, 2011, at Rock of Ages in McMinnville. Lorraine was born August 26, 1928, in Minnesota to Charles and Lillian (Alexander) Pratt. She was 82.
As a small child, she moved to Buxton, Oregon, with her family. Later, the family moved to Hillsboro. Born with a learning disability and no formal schooling, she learned to cook and care for the family home and herself. She worked with her parents and brother Howard at B & C Janitorial Service, cleaning offices and the theaters in Hillsboro.
She was blessed with an ear for music and only had to hear a song once to be able to play it on her accordion. She loved to play for family and friends. Lorraine loved the Lord, going to church, roller skating at the local rink, swimming and going to the movies and, most of all, her family.
In 1969 she met and married the love of her life, Marvin Chase. They moved and lived in the St. Paul area for several years before moving to McMinnville.
Her greatest treasures were her collection of dolls and her certificate of achievement for learning to read at the age of 77. It was only "Dick and Jane" but for her it was "War & Peace.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Leonard Lee Pratt and Howard Pratt; nephew, Larry Pratt; and sister-in-law, Helen Pratt. She is survived by nieces and husbands, Jerry and Jim Walker, Washougal, WA., Merry and Ken Briscoe, Aloha, Terry and Mike Gouviea, Stayton; nephews and wife, Garry Pratt, Millington, TN., Perry and Xenia Pratt, Forest Grove and their families. She also leaves behind the staff of Rock of Ages, whom she considered her friends and extended family, along with special friend, Susan, and to Legacy Hospice of McMinnville. We will all miss your loving smile.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care and extra time spent by the staff of Rock of Ages caring for Lorraine.
