Daughter of George Pratt. Her grandfather, Charles Pratt, was one of John D. Rockefeller's partners in the formation of Standard Oil Company. Dorothy was a highly skilled horsewoman, sailor and fisherman. She owned an extensive thoroughbred farm in Hillsborough, California, which she named "Eucalyptus Hill." She was involved in many philanthropic activities, loved playing a good game of bridge. She attended Miss Hall's School and Vassar College. Her first marriage was to Samuel Croft Register. She married second, Dr. William G. Barrett.
