Dorothy Josephine Armstrong, age 89, resident of Fort Scott, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Guest Home Estates. She was born January 1, 1923, in Lee's Summit, Missouri, the daughter of Fred Leban Prather and Myrtle May Acre Prather. She married Roy Wilbur Armstrong on December 30, 1941, in Clinton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2010. She was a member of the Community Christian Church, and was involved in the U Are Welcome Sunday School Class, the 55 plus group, and the church quilters.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Lee Witt and husband Jerry; a son, Thomas Allen Armstrong and wife Linda, all of Fort Scott; and a sister, Francis Houk, Harrisonville, Missouri. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Matt, Aaron, Jared, Jordan and Luke Witt, and Christina Kruger; twelve great grandchildren; Jordan, Lexi and Austin Kruger, Henry, Oliver, Remy, Ivan, Ava, Lydia, Jack, Cole and Jayden Witt; and one great-great granddaughter, Cali Kruger; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Micheal Armstrong; five brothers, Nathan, Raymond, Charles, Allen and an infant twin brother Donald Joseph Prather; four sisters, Effie Lou Stout, Almeda Wakeman, Viola Snyder, and infant sister, Lynn Prather; and an infant granddaughter, Sherise Leann Witt.

Rev. Kevin Moyers and Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, at the Community Christian Church. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 P.M. till 8 P.M at the funeral home.. Memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or Guest Home Estates Activity Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
