Cla­rence Powers, 78, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Bellefont, to Grant and Alice Margarete Henning Powers.

A resident of Scott City since 1960, moving from Fowler, Mr. Powers was a farmer, rancher and carpenter.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Scott City and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.

On Oct. 15, 1951, he married Eileen Elffner in Fowler. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ronald Powers of Littleton, Colo., David Powers of Scott City, and Jay Powers of Holcomb; five brothers, LaVern Powers of Hutchinson, Grant Powers of Spearville, Richard Powers of Greenwood, Mo., Norman Powers of Dodge City, and Galen Powers of Sanford, N.C.; four sisters, Geraldine Dohrmann of Ensign, Berniece Logan of Troy, Mo., Gerva Powers of Kiowa, and Norma Ross of League City, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Virgil Powers; and a sister, Genevieve Cayton.

Vigil service was at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass was at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Graveside service was at Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.
