Obituary: Essie P. Callahan Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Essie P. Callahan, 61, Odenville, who died Friday, July 18, 2008. Bro. Curtis Calfee will officiate. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing. Mrs. Callahan was a member of the Warrior River Baptist Church. She was a resident of Etowah County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Powell; son, Ricky Lynn Gilliland; six brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Callahan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, James Callahan, Odenville; daughter, Tresa (Billy) Smith, Odenville; son, Joseph (Keila) Gilliland, Odenville; grandchildren, Dillon, Logan, Erica and Christopher Smith, Ryan and Jesslyn McCullough; sister, Janice Powell; brothers, Curtis (Linda) Powell and Billy Joe Powell; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dale Powell, David Powell, Shane Powell, Travis Wilemon, Doyle Wilemon and Bruce Gilliland. Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, the doctors and nurses on fifth floor MOU at St. Vincent's East and to Dr. Margaret Turner and Dr. Leaf Robbins.
