Maxine Elzea, 77 of Hannibal, MO joined her Heavenly Father at 10:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her home surrounded by all of her children and several of her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Burial will be at Flint Hill Cemetery in Ralls County, MO.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Maxine was born on March 11, 1933 in Hannibal, MO to Jess "Red" Lee Powell and Anna Pearl Pierce Charlton.

She was married on November 26, 1955 in Alton, IL to Joseph Elzea Sr. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2000.

Also preceding Maxine in death were her parents, a son-in-law, Terry Gibbons, a special sister-in-law, Norma Lee Wilson and an aunt, Florence Rickey.

Survivors include six children, Janet Kay Edwards, Debra Jo Gibbons, Joseph Lee Elzea (Laura), Michael Alan Elzea Sr.(Chris),Cynthia Jane Young (Alex),James"Mark" Elzea all of Hannibal, MO; one brother, August Lee Powell of Zimmerman, MN, two sisters, Betty Jean Mickels of Hannibal, MO and Gloria Lynda McGuire of the state of MN; an aunt, Mary Holman and other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Maxine is also survived by one grand-daughter that is currently missing, Christina Whittaker.

Mrs. Elzea was the bookkeeper and co-owner with her husband of Elzea's Auto Sales. She was also a Notary of the Public. Maxine loved to watch St. Louis Cardinal's Baseball, wrestling, and "The Wheel of Fortune". She also loved to spend time with her family at picnics and BBQs. Maxine lived her life for her Heavenly Father and her children. Maxine touched the lives of many and was loved by all. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Pallbearers will be James Mark Elzea, Michael Alan Elzea Sr.,Alex Eugene Young, Joseph Elzea Jr., Robert Joseph Pierce, and Michael Alan Elzea Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Whittaker, Aaron DeClue, Christina Whittaker, Lisa Culp, Jeremy Whittaker, Robyn Pierce, Kenny Culp, Courtney Elzea, Faron Elzea, and Henry Blackwell.

Memorials may be made to the Christina Whittaker Benefit-Reward Fund in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
