Mary was the wife of Caleb Carroll.
Obituary in The Quitman Banner, Friday, October 2, 1868.
Fatal Accident. We are deeply pained to learn that Mrs. Mary Carroll, wife of Caleb Carroll, residing near Glasgow in this county, was killed on Sunday the 20,inst., under the following circumstances: Mrs. Carroll and her son had been on a visit to her aunt and were riding in a buggy on their way home when the horse took fright and ran away. In his fury the animal kicked buggy, harness and everything loose from him, striking Mrs. Carroll on the throat, jaws, neck and breast, killing her immediately, and severely though not mortally her son. The affair is a sad one, and has cast a gloom over the neighborhood.
