Beth was born September 25, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Franklin S. and Evelyn Smith Grant. She was married to Leland E. Porter on July 3, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple by President Heber J. Grant. She was employed by the LDS hospital for 25 years.
Beth was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings including Relief Society Pres,. Primary Pres. and primary teacher for many years. She served a mission with her husband in the Tennessee Nashville Mission.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years; five sons, Lee Grant (Janet) Porter of Orem; Roland (Lois) Porter of Salt Lake City; Brent (Kathy) Porter of Holladay; David (Ana) Porter of Bountiful; Todd (Cammy) Porter of Centerville. She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren among whom she was known as the "Indiana Jones" of grandmas. She is also survived by a brother, Ulysses S. Grant of Centerville and a sister, Marion G. Weaver of Layton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel, 720 E. 550 N. Friends may call Thursday Oct. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., and 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Centerville City Cemetery.
The family gives a special thanks to the care givers at the Bountiful House and the South Davis Community Hospital.
