PORTER, Oliver Bruce

ECKHART,MARYLAND -- Oliver Bruce Porter, 64, of Parkersburg Road, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.

Born here, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward Porter and Lillian Maude (Nelson) Porter. Mr. Porter was a retired boilermaker for the Chessie System.

He served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War, and was a member of Eckhart United Methodist Church; Farrady Post 24, American Legion, Frostburg, and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Jessie Stella (Myers) Porter, he is survived by one son, Thomas Stuart Porter, Frostburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pfingsten, Aberdeen; Mrs. Doris White, Huntsville, Alabama.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Friday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. George M. Harpold.

Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery, where Farrady Legion Post will accord military honors.
