Lydia Marie Clark, of Brinktown, was born December 17, 1933, a daughter of George Andrew and Eleanor Anne (Welschmeyer) Pope, and departed this life at 5:35 P.M., Thursday, February 3, 2011, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Clark had attained the age of 77 years, 1 month and 16 days.
Mrs. Clark was united in marriage on November 6, 1954, at Rich Fountain, to Leslie Leonard Clark, and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 20, 2011; her father on December 13, 1979; her mother on December 3, 1982; one brother, Frank Pope on December 14, 1999; and three sisters, Mary Lueckenotte on April 19, 1993; Irene Koelling on July 22, 1999 and Teresa Louise Schwartz on August 1, 2010.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown and the Brinktown St. Ann's Sodality Quilting Circle. She was the relief postmaster of the Brinktown Post Office for 20 years and was the co-owner of Clark's TV in Brinktown since 1959. Mrs. Clark enjoyed gardening, flowers, cards and quilting. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker and was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Clark include: Three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Tammy Clark, Brinktown; Dave and Helen Clark, Eucha, Oklahoma; and Michael and Lavondia Clark, Vienna; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Mike Steinman, Argyle; one brother and sister-in-law, George, Jr. and Berniece Pope, Koeltztown; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alvina Boehmer, Jefferson City; Loretta Rademan, Wardsville; Emma Scheulen, Loose Creek; Doris and Winford Lewis, Jefferson City; and Walter Schwartz, Argyle; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Clark at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 6, 2011, in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, with the Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz celebrating. The Readings and Petitions were read by April Mertens, Kelly Schwartze and Casey Steinman. Eucharistic Minister was Mary Jo Crider; Acolytes were Kody and Kolin Mertens. During the Offertory Procession, the Gifts were borne to the altar by Randy Clark, Dave Clark, Tina Steinman, Michael Clark and Michala Clark. Kay Flemming, Theresa Davis and Donna Knapp sang "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles Wings", "Hail Mary", Song of Farewell" and "How Great Thou Art" for the Mass and were accompanied by guitarist Donna Knapp.
Interment was in the Guardian Angels Cemetery, Brinktown, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Clark were Zachary Clark, Rocky Clark, Matthew Clark, Shane Steinman, Kevin Schwartze and Matthew Mertens.
Masses or memorials to the Brinktown St. Ann's Sodality are suggested with envelopes available at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
