She was born on December 12, 1921 to Mary Wagner Poole and George W. Poole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wallace Adair; and son, James W. Adair. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Adair May and Diane Adair Miller; and grandchildren, Laura Miller Jakucyk, John Miller, and David May.
Mrs. Adair was a 1939 graduate of Ensley High School. She married J. Wallace Adair in 1943 and moved to Washington DC in 1948. She raised her three children in Bethesda, MD.
In 1973, she graduated from Howard University in Washington, DC with a degree in dental hygiene. She worked in that profession for 15 years in the greater Washington, DC area. After retiring in 1986, she returned to Birmingham. Her hobbies included sewing, traveling, gardening, cooking and bridge.
She has been a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church of Birmingham. She would like to be remembered as a woman of faith who dearly loved Jesus, her children, and her grandchildren.
Visitation and services will be held at Elmwood Chapel on Saturday, Feb 20, 2010. Visitation will begin at 10 am with services following at 11 am. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
