Frances Lucille Alston, 86, of Marlin, passed away on August 1, 2006. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Adams Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Marlin, with Dr. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Frances was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Jack Edward Pool and Laurene (Aycock) Pool, and was a descendent of some of the earliest settlers to come to Texas in 1832. As an only child, she was the last of the Pool family.
On Nov. 1, 1938, she married William Adrian Alston, Sr. She enjoyed the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom and took great pride in rearing her seven children, often volunteering for church and school duties. Frances was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and taught all her children that the most important thing in life is to find the humor and the lesson that each of life's ups and downs brings to us, and that family and friends are the most important thing of all. She cautioned them to not sweat the small stuff, that it's all small stuff and to always look for the donut instead of the hole.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Adrian Alston Sr., in May of 1991; a son, Robert Jack Alston, whose untimely death at age 49 left a void in her heart.
She leaves behind her sons: William Adrian Alston, Jr. and wife, Mary, Kevin Grant Alston, Edward Keith Alston and wife, Melody, and Jonathan Pool Alston; daughters, Kimberly Ann Alston Kleypas and husband, Wayne and Laura Lisa Alston; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a very special group of friends who brightened her life daily.
