Our mom, Isabel E. Ponce de León, joined our dad, her life's love and soulmate, the late Dr. F. Ponce de León on December 5, 2008. Mom passed quietly at home, after an extended illness with "her three girls" at her side. Mom was born on May 14, 1927 in Havana, Cuba to our grandparents, renowned sports writer Pepe Conte and stage actress, Amy Isabel Holland.

Mom and Dad married on June 7, 1952. Their life together took them down many unexpected paths. In February 1962, our dad escaped from communist Cuba to the United States. For the first time in their life, they found themselves apart, not knowing if they would ever re-unite. We were fortunate to flee the island and join him in April of the same year. Our parents loved the U.S. and felt privileged to live in the "greatest country in the world". We started life over in Chillicothe, and Chillicothe embraced our family. In the early days, mom loved working with dad in his private practice. They met so many wonderful people, many became lifetime friends. Mom lived for her family.

She loved her daughters, Cristina and her husband, Steven Wolfe, Maria Ponce de León and her partner Robert Rowe and Victoria and her husband, Dennis Hill. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Derek and Andrea Wolfe, William Byers, Angela Johnson and Samuel and Philip Streicher.

Isabel was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped care for mom over the past year.

Services were entrusted to Ware Funeral Home of Chillicothe, Ohio.
