From the Alameda Daily Argus, October 14, 1895, Page 4:

The funeral of Judge John H. Pomeroy took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence, 1711 Sherman St. and was conducted under the auspices of Pawnee Tribe No. 67, Improved Order of Red Men. The deceased was a member of a Tribe in Virginia City, Nevada and at its request, the local Tribe sent its sick committee to see him during his illness and upon his death conduct the funeral ceremonies.

Mr. Pomeroy was at one time a prominent citizen of Virginia City and sat on the bench when the great Comstock excitement was on. He was then an intimate friend of John Lucich of Park Street and Mr. Lucich acted as one of the pall-bearers yesterday.

Many old-time residents of Virginia City were present at the funeral.
