The former Velma Polley was born August 17, 1879, at Correctionville. She married Forest H. Anderson at Ida Grove on June 21, 1899. The couple operated the Anderson Hotel on the site of the present city parking lot and also a hotel on the site of the Community Building. In 1912 they established an automobile business, which later became F.H. Anderson & Son and was continued until Gaylen Anderson's retirement in 1971. The firm became a Chevrolet agency in 1923. Mrs. Anderson was a charter member of the Correctionville Women's Club, a past worthy matron of Stella Chapter, OES, and a former member of the Correctionville Library Board. Mrs. Forest H. Anderson, 96, lifelong Correctionville resident and businesswoman, passed away August 30 in Correctionville following a brief illness. Rev. Matt Leach of the United Methodist Church officiated at the services with burial in Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Barker Funeral Home. Survivors include one son, Gaylen of Correctionville, one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Boyd of Boise, Idaho, two sisters, Miss Blanche Polley of Denver and Mrs. Hazel Coburn of Redding, California, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
