Lola was born Oct. 24, 1927, in the small town of Wirt, which is located in southeastern Oklahoma. She ws the fourth child and second daughter of William B. and Dora K. (Cooper) Pollard. She lived the first 12 years of her life in Wirt and attended Dundee Elementary. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and joined the Wirt Baptist Church. In 1939, her family moved to Williams Camp, located in Saint Elmo, Ill. It was there that she met her future husband and "love of her life," Jim Broaddus. Lola worked for a short interval at the same company in accounts payable and receivable departments.
