Harry Pollard Rites Saturday Services in Rockford for Advertising Executive

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday in Rockford for Harry W. (Tom) Pollard, 60, Detroit, Mich., advertising executive and former business manager of the Rockford Daily Republic.

Mr. Pollard, who lived in Rockford most of his life until 1929, died suddently of a heart attack yesterday in his apartment in the Lee Plaza hotel, Detroit, where he had resided the past eight years.

Saturday's funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Burpee-Wood funeral home, 420 North Main Street by the Rev. Fr. B. Nerman Burke, pastor of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery. There will be a short service in Detroit Friday morning. Friends may call at the funeral home after 8:30 o'clock tomorrow evening.

Surviving Mr. Pollard are his wife, Lorena; a sister, Mrs. Rose Loveland of Oakland, CA; and a brother Robert Pollard, Santa Monica, CA.

Mr. Pollard was born March 1, 1883 in London, England, the son of Robert and Ann Pollard, and came to the United States and Rockford when he was six years old.

He began his business career as a clerk with the Rockford Lumber and Fuel Company and left that firm to join the staff of the old Daily Republic, which he later served as business manager.

After leaving Rockford 14 years ago, Mr. Pollard went to Cleveland, OH where he was associated with the advertising department of the Cleveland News. A little more than eight years ago he went to Detroit as advertising representative of the advertising firm of Ward-Griffith Company, Inc.

In Rockford the Pollard home was at 316 Camlin Avenue. Mr. Pollard was a past exalted ruler of Rockford lodge. No. 64 of Elks and was a member of the old Good Fellowship club. He was active in water sports which attained a great popularity on the Rock River many years ago.

As a representative of the Advertising Club of the World, Mr. Pollard traveled in Scotland, England, France, and other European countries in 1926.
