Full military honors will be accorded Private John S. Podres, 24-year-old member of the F Company, 18th U.S. Infantry, at funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock from O'Neill's funeral home.

Private Podres whose home station was Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, and who was a native of Witherbee, near Mineville, died at about 3 p.m. Friday from what officials said was a self-inflicted gun wound. The young soldier who was serving his second enlistment had been participating in First Army maneuvers and was located at North Winthrop at the time of his death.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Podres of Witherbee; a sister, Mrs. Chris Bunger, Marmaroneck; three brothers, Stephen and Joseph Podres of Witherbee and Walter Podres, U.S. Navy Hawaii.

Following the funeral services burial will take place in the cemetery at Plattsburg Barracks.
