David married Linda Jordan in 1975. They were the parents of 2 children, and the family lived in Haddonfield, Camden County, New Jersey. He worked as an assistant hospital administrator at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Haddonfield.
David died of leukemia at the Eastern Division of West Jersey Hospital. He had been a patient there for 6 days. At the time of his death, he was 38 years, 4 months and 5 days old.
He was survived by his wife; his mother and father; 1 son; 1 daughter; his maternal grandmother, Mary M. Knipping Branding of Granite City, Illinois; and 1 brother, Douglas Poag of Bloomington, Illinois.
Visitation was held on 18 Feb 2008 at Holl-Murphy Funeral Home in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Funeral services were conducted there at 8:30 p.m. that evening.
David's ashes were buried next to his paternal grandfather, Louis A. Knipping.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia.
