A Colorado native, daughter of Abbott Henry Plunkett, of Greeley, Colorado and Estella Julia Dresserich, of Denver, Colorado. Frances received a Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Denver, as well as a Master's Degree in Library Science from Rosary College. She married Richard Hathaway "Dick" Shay on July 26, 1939, in her parents beautiful Swiss Chalet in Evergreen, Colorado. Her professional career as drama teacher and school librarian with Denver Public Schools for 31 years. She was a world traveler and a patron of the arts.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, and her brother, Robert Desserich "Bob" Plunkett. She was a loving mother, survived by her two sons. She was a devoted and caring grandmother, survived by two granddaughters, and one grandson. She will be missed by her extended family, who loved her so very much.

Rosary, 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at Fairmount Mortuary Chapel. Services, 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Good Shephard Catholic Church, 2626 E. 7th Avenue Pkwy.
Entombment Fairmount Mausoleum, Denver, Colorado.
