A native of Swain County, she grew up in the small town of Judson before the construction of Fontana Dam. She came to Buncombe County in 1973, following retirement as an owner of a general store in Gaffney, S.C. Callie was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late William and Elvira Welch Ashe, and the widow of the late James Edward Ed Plemmons. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ida Clarinda Ashe; and three brothers, Samuel Burgin Ashe, William Claude Ashe and Harley Ashe.
Surviving are her niece, Margaret Ann Ashe; and nephews, Robbie Ashe and J. Lee Ashe.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kathy Pittman officiating.
Callie will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at a later date
