"George Hart Platt was born in 1832 in Ohio.
He enlisted on December 8, 1863, as a Quartermaster Sergeant in the Union Light Guard, Ohio Cavalry. He was discharged on December 9, 1865.
George Platt was a member of Tombstone's Burnside Post, Grand Army of the Republic. He served as Post Chaplain in 1891. (source: Tombstone Epitaph, December 13, 1891).
George Platt died in Pearce, Cochise County, Arizona, on August 6, 1906."

And from Rhonda Reid comes the most fascinating information for Mr. Platt. He was a member of the Union Light Guard of Ohio which body was formed for the express purpose of acting as body guard to the (at the time) President of the United States Abraham Lincoln. Rhonda writes:
We visited the Pearce Cemetery yesterday and noticed the sign that says 'Bodyguard of President Lincoln' with no name anywhere. We have searched all over the internet, emailed the Library of Congress as well as the Arizona Memory Project with no answers. Finally, I found it! He really needs recognition for his service on this site as well as his gravestone.
