The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Pitts are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Saturday, November 20, 2004 at eleven o'clock at the crypt side in Magnolia Cemetery. The Reverend Joseph Marchant will officiate. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Friday between five and seven o'clock.
Mr. Pitts was born August 6, 1932, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Drew Cary Pitts and Ruby Hayward Pitts.
He retired from the Citadel and was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Thelma, of Charleston, SC; two sons: Carl L. Pitts, Jr. and his wife Debbie Detyens Pitts of Wellington, FL and Keith L. Pitts and his wife Lynne Freehill Pitts of Charleston, SC; four sisters: June Brinson and her husband Benjamin of Ravenel, SC, Evelyn Seagraves of Goose Creek, SC, Vonita Frazier and her husband J.L. of North Charleston, SC and Sylvia Michaud and her husband Lloyd of Mikado, Michigan; three brothers: Norman Pitts of Ft. Pierce, FL, Harold Pitts of Walterboro, SC, William C. Pitts and his wife Linda of North Charleston, SC; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Carl, III, Christina of Florida, and Ethan and Alanna Pitts of Charleston, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
