OBITUARY : HIAWATHA DAILY WORLD - TUESDAY, MAY 15, 1923

Lydia Jane Pittman was born in Andrew County, Missouri, April 24, 1859. With her parents and sister she moved to Brown County, Kansas in 1863, settling on a farm near Leona, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to A.H. Lambert November 2, 1884. To this union were born 2 sons, Clarence Lambert of Florence, Kansas, and Perry H. Lambert of Hiawatha. She united with the Pleasant View Baptist Church in 1882. She passed to her rest May 11, 1923. She has been a member of the Hiawatha church 30 years or more. She has always been of that quiet lovable disposition that has so much to do in making a beautiful, consistent Christian life, ready always to help in every good work. Her family was among the pioneers of this community. May others be raised up to take the sacred, all important duties of these pioneer mothers. She was a great lover of flowers. The beautiful spray of flowers on her casket was picked from her garden from the plants she had grown. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A.E. Martin. Mrs. Lucien Sterns, Miss Fay Hayes, Jake Zimmers, and Harvey Martin sang. The body bearers were Godfrey Kinzie, J.G. Hanna, M.E. Wells, J.S. Lewis, S.D. Snyder, Chas. Duehn. Burial was made in Mount Hope Cemetery.
