FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. COURSON, 86 --
Mrs. Rilla Pittman Courson, 86, died last Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Thompson, Route 1, Blackshear, after a long illness.
A native of Ware County, she was the wife of the late Joe Courson and was the daughter of the late Abe Pittman and Rachael Beverly Pittman.
Mrs. Courson was a member of the Blackshear Church of God and had lived in Pierce County for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Thompson, Blackshear, Mrs. Rachael Smith, Waycross, and Mrs. Melissa Rowell, Nichols; three sons, Archie Courson, Waresboro, Eddie Courson, Brunswick, and Talmadge Courson, Waycross; 49 grandchildren, 115 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Blackshear Church of God with the Rev. Lehaman Spence and the Rev. J.B. Robinson officiating. Internment was in the Waresboro Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were E.L. Courson, Edison Courson, Austin Courson, Ashley Courson, Troy Rowell, Clinton Rowell, Phillip Courson and Charles Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were J. Hugh Turner, Roscoe Turner, Foye Norris, Harry Henderson, T.A. Schrock, Roy Westberry, Arthur Boatright, George Houston, Cleo Anderson, Frank Dixon, Troy Howell and Mack Murray.
Darling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
