Wife of Preston S. Lester
Mrs. Alice P. Lester, a pioneer McAlester resident and wife of Pres Lester, retired attorney and once postmaster here and long a leading political figure in eastern Oklahoma, passed away early today in Oklahoma City. She was at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Louise Clark, 2344 NW 16th street, when death came. Mrs. Lester was born in Indian Territory and was a member of the Choctaw tribe. She had been in failing health for about seven years. Death came on Mrs. Lester's 53rd wedding anniversary. Other survivors include three sons; McCurtain, Oklahoma City, Dudley, Holdenville, and Richard in the Army Air Forces, and three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Shefield, McAlester; Mrs. Wynemia Hooper, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sullivant, Oklahoma City. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Humphrey Funeral Home is in charge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pres Lester, who died early yesterday in Oklahoma City, will be held at the Humphrey chapel at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with the Rev. Mark Sexton officiating. Interment will be in Oakhill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hiram Impson, George Taylor, W. E. McGowan, W. E. Hailey, W. A. Lackey, and Dick Naylor.
