ROSIE STEWART PITCHFORD
Funeral services for Mother Rosie "Dolly" Stewart-Pitchford, 80, were held Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington. Rev. Edward Charles Pitchford, pastor, officiated with burial in Newport Cemetery in Lexington.
Mrs. Pitchford passed away on Friday, September 26, 2005.
Mrs. Pitchford was born on April 9, 1919 in Lexington to the late Elliot Stewart and Selencia Jordan-Stewart. She was educated in the Hickory Springs and Popular Springs communities. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge M. B Church where she served as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Mother Board.
Mother Pitchford was preceded in death by her husband, Willie W. Pitchford, Sr., and three of thier nine children.
Survivors include: four sons, Edward Charles Pitchford of Lexington; Rosby Pitchford of Chicago, IL; Willie W. Pitchford, Jr., and Andrew James Pitchford, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two daughters, Earscine Stewart-Hodges of Durant; and Brenda Pitchford-Jones of Chicago, IL; a sister, Alpha Stewart of Jackson; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and two children she raised as her own, Jeanette Coffey of Oakland, and Leon Pitchford of Lexington.
Active pallbearers were the Starlight Singers. Delta Burial in Lexington was in charge of the services.
