Mrs. Mildred P. Pipkin, 90, of Waycross died early Wednesday morning at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Wrightsville, (Johnson Co) Georgia to the late Lake R. Peddy and Lula Poole Peddy.

Mrs. Pipkin spent most of her early years in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Waycross in 1941. She attended Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia with a major in English. For the majority of her life, Mrs. Pipkin was a partner with her husband in his business and Christian ministry. She was a member of Central Baptist Church until 1961. Mrs. Pipkin even wrote a play commemorating the WMU's 100th anniversary. Mrs. Pipkin was very active in the church's community outreach, visiting shut-ins and nursing homes in the Waycross area. For a week over several summers she would house children in her home from the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. Mrs. Pipkin was an active member of the Eastern Star for many years. She loved to spend her spare time doing yard work. Her children and grandchildren will remember her most for her love and service to the churches where she served, her emphasis on the importance of education, and her devotion to family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Walter L. Pipkin and a son-in-law, Dr. Robert H. Garner.
