Mrs. Beals, 73, of Coalport, formerly of Irvona, died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 1985, in Clearfield Hospital, after an extended illness. Mrs. Beals retired as a secretary from the Glendale High School on Feb. 28, 1977, after 28 years' service. She was born July 17, 1912, in Altoona, the daughter of Elmer S. and Sarah (Spiedle) Piper, and married Amos M. Beals, who died April 19, 1974. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Burkholder, who died May 8, 1985. Mrs. Beals was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and Zeth Business School. She was a charter member of the Beccaria-Coalport-Irvona Business and Professional Women's Club and a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Public School Employees Association, Ladies Auxiliary to the Glendale Volunteer Fire Company and United Methodist Church, Coalport. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday in the Donald J. Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport.
BEALS – Services for Ruth S. Beals of Coalport will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Donald J. Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, by the Rev. Walter Patton. Interment in Fairview Baptist Cemetery, LaJose RD. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
