I was affectionately known as Aunt Jennie by family members and friends that stretch across the country. I, Jennie (Pinkus) Gurnish, of Akron, Ohio, currently residing at Grande Village of Twinsburg, passed away on July 16, 2013 at the age of 96. I was born of February 16, 1917 in Heckla, Pennsylvania to my parents, Lawrence and Mary Pinkus.
I was a charter member of the Firestone Park Prime Timers and a member of the Social Solitaire.
I was preceded in death by my husband, Michael; my mother and father; four brothers and two sisters. I am survived by a very special niece, Janine Dolciato, and by a lot of nieces and nephews, Jack Jaskol, Lawrence Pinkus, Jeanette Banul, Anita Burgess, Gloria Stark, Joe and Tom Kaiser, Joyce Hubiak, Claudette Heckleman, Patsy Kerrigan and Cathy Allman; also, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, great-great-nieces and great-great- nephews.
I've had a wonderful 96 years surrounded by my loving family. I'm going to check on Mike and the rest of my family in heaven. I'll be seeing you all again when you get there.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Western Reserve.
