LAUREL FORK, VA ~ Mrs. Bessie Opal Pike Hayden, 91, of Heritage Hall at Laurel Meadows, Laurel Fork, and formerly of Hayden Road in Claudville passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

Mrs. Hayden was born Oct. 22, 1914, in Patrick County to the late Joe and Katie Mears Pike.

She was a homemaker and self-employed dairy farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Norman Noah of Winston-Salem, Margaret and Leonard Hamm and Glenda and Roger Culler, all of Mount Airy, N.C.; a son, Freddy Hayden, of Walkertown; three grandchildren and spouses, Cherie and Tim Sizemore of Mount Airy, Leanne and Norman Noah III of Winston Salem, N.C., and Ms. Chantay Noah of Pfafftown, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Kaylean Noah and Nathan Noah, both of Winston-Salem; and a sister, Hester Dollyhite, of Mount Airy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayden was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Romney Hayden; three sisters, Nellie White, Lucy Hayes and Elsie Heath; four brothers, Edgar Pike, Roy Pike, James Pike and Floyd Pike; and a special friend, Bessie Thomas.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Darren Slate officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, April 27, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at Heritage Hall for all the loving and tender care they showed Mrs. Hayden and her family.
