PIGOTT--J. Robert (August 7, 1924 - June 25, 2011) Bob Pigott was laid to rest on June 30, 2011 at Cypress Hills Cemetery at the age of eighty-six.
He is mourned by his wife of fifty-six years, Simone. He is also survived his loving children, Patricia Pigott Strauss and James Robert Pigott, Jr., and, grandchildren, James M. and Julia F. Pigott, son-in-law, Wayne Strauss, and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Moekle Pigott.
A passionate supporter of liberal causes, he had been actively involved in several local and national political organizations, including the John F. Kennedy Democratic Club and Americans for Democratic Action. He once served as President of the local school board.
Bob retired from the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal, where he had been active in the Organization of Management Confidential Employees.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a particularly loyal alumnus of Hamilton College. He was a great lover of history, literature, theater, film, and the New York Mets.
