Robert Francis Pigeon, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2007. He was born on Sept. 29, 1934, in Oconto, Wis., and was raised in Ontonagon, Mich. He was the son of the late Francis C. and Ilse E. (Schluenz) Pigeon. Robert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He took academic degrees at Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, Mich.; Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, Texas; and Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas. He joined the Atomic Energy Commission in August 1961 and worked with the Technical Information Group in Washington, D.C., and then OSTI in Oak Ridge, Tenn. After retiring in May 1982, he worked as a consulting nuclear licensing engineer at several nuclear stations in Arizona, Missouri, New York, Illinois, Tennessee and South Carolina. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton,
the Pellissippi Genealogical and Historical Society and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 24 years; by daughters, Elizabeth M. Morgan and husband, Darren, of Walkersville, Md., Shannon B. O'Grady and husband, Patrick, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Heather F. White and husband, William, of Smyrna, Tenn.; grandchildren, Elisa Kathleen Michel Bowling of Lubbock, Texas, and Jeffrey Clay Bowling Jr. of Brownwood, Texas; stepchildren, Kimberly A. Hatfield and husband, Steve, of Lewis Center, Ohio, Ruby D. Faulkner of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Samuel D. McLane of Clinton, Tenn.; step-grandchildren, Trey, Spencer, and Joey McLane of Clinton, Tenn., Jonathan McLane of Tucson, Ariz., and Stevie Hatfield of Lewis Center, Ohio; great-grandchild,
Alyssa Anne McLane of Tucson, Ariz.; stepmother, Mary Pigeon of Ontonagon, Mich.; stepsisters, Pauline Soyka and husband, James, of Fowler, Mich., Suzi D. Picotte of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. The last 10 weeks of his life
he received loving care at St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville, Tenn. Funeral service and interment will be at Rawson-Matheney Cemetery in Bomont, W. Va. The family asks that any memorials be sent in the form of contributions to the Family Life Center, First Baptist Church, 225 North Main St., Clinton, TN 37716.
