Born on Aug. 19, 1914, he was the son of Edward and Dorothy McDowell. His mother later married Louis Pietzsch who adopted him.
Mr. Pietzsch was a member of Victory Faith Community Church in Fort Madison.
Survivors include his special companion Lois Wilson, of Fort Madison; one sister Erma Andrew of Burlington; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, one sister and two brothers.
There will be no visitation. The funeral for Mr. Pietzsch will be at 10 a.m. at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison with the Rev. Roger Welty officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established. Barr Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
