Martha Alice Alfont, 72, died early today in Ball Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Jamestown, Tenn., attended school in that area and came to Muncie in 1937.
Mrs. Alfont was employed by Anchor Hocking Glass in Winchester for several years prior to her retirement. Earlier, she was employed for more than 19 years at Ball Brothers (now Ball Corp.). She was a member of the Anchor Hocking Sympathy Club.
Surviving are her son, Sammy Pierce; two grandchildren, Tamela Leilani Byers, Chicago, and Richard Pierce, Muncie; a sister, Marie Buck, Muncie; four brothers, Hermet, Alford, and Clyde Pierce, all of Muncie, and Herbert Pierce, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Meeks Mortuary at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.
Friends may call at the mortuary 4-7 p.m. Tuesday or prior to services Wednesday.
