Alta A. Armstrong, 91, Vernon, Ind., and formerly of Greensburg, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993, at her home.
She was born Nov. 19, 1901 in Jennings County, the daughter of Jacob and Laura Jackson Pierce. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vernon Baptist Church and the Vernon Clionian Club.
On Aug. 22, 1925, she married Olin Armstrong, and he preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1980. Survivors include two sons, Bill Armstrong, Belair, Md.; and Max Armstrong, North Vernon, Ind.; two daughters, Sue Collins, Vernon, Ind., and Betty Johnson, North Vernon, Ind.; one sister, Genniel Campbell, North Vernon; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Cummings, Crystal Clark and Inez Jordan, and one infant daughter.
The Rev. Herman Emmert will be assisted by the Rev. Mark Sorrels in officiating he services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Dove and Sharp Funeral Home, North Vernon, Ind.
Burial will be in Bear Creek-St. Ann Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may go to the Humane Society or the Vernon Baptist Church.
