Rita Blanche Pickett, age 78, was promoted to glory on January 17, 2012 and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Horace and Blanche Dougherty. She is survived by her children, Mark Pickett and wife Kristine, David Pickett and wife Pam, Diane Lumpkin and hus-band Mark. Grandchildren Mary, Michael, Maggie, Kelley, Hannah Pickett, and Connor Lumpkin will miss their "Mimi" very much. Rita was born on March 20, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana where she lived up into her mid 30's and a short while in Ohio, until she settled in Dallas, Texas in the early 70's. She relocated to Round Rock, Texas in 2002 to be closer to her son David and daughter Diane, and their families. Rita's life was a blessing to all who knew her and was defined by her faith and family. Rita's faith was demonstrated on a daily basis through her involvement with her church, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and her desire to help others in need. She was a Round Rock caregiver providing assistance to the elderly and less fortunate people. Being an only child, family meant the world to Rita and she cherished the time with her children and grand-children. Rita will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 E. FM 1431, Cedar Park, Texas, 78613. Funeral services and mass will be held on Friday January 20, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9500 Neenah Ave., Austin, Texas 78717. A graveside service will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas 78731. A reception will be held after the graveside service at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to one of the following three charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association .
