Bradford attended Liberty schools through high school, and received his under graduate degree and his law degree at the University of Texas in 1937. He returned to Liberty to practice law with his father, E. B. Pickett, serving as temporary Judge of Liberty County, and later as Mayor of the city of Liberty, prior to World War II.
He married Elizabeth Anne Amsler, of Hempstead, on September 1, 1939.
He entered the U. S. Navy in 1942, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. He attained the rank of Lieutenant at the end of his service, and returned to practice law in Liberty. In the 1960's he served as president of The First Liberty National Bank, he was a member of the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post # 5621 in Liberty, the Liberty Rotary Club, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and participated in many other community service activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Amsler Pickett, his father, E. B. Pickett, his mother, Sidney Pickett, his sister Bernardine Pickett and his brothers, Nolan D. Picket and Horace Pickett.
Survivors include his son, Edward B. Picket and wife Sandra J. Pickett, son, Carl Nolan Pickett and wife Laura Pickett, three grandchildren, Logan Edward Pickett, Lyndsay Anne Pickett, and Cory Amsler Pickett, and Mickey Schultz and his family friend, Louise Donatto.
