Reah P. Bates, 82, of Greenwich, passed away Tuesday, at her home. She had been a patient at the South Jersey Hospital System Bridgeton Division for several day and returned home 4 days ago.

Born in Greenwich the daughter of the late Lewis and Sarah (nee Craig) Pickering and the wife of the late Randolph H. Bates, Sr. Mr. Bates passed away November 28, 2000. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School, Class of 1935 and was employed as a Secretary for Ashley McCormick Co. of Bridgeton, Secretary for Newlin D. Watson Canning Co. of Greenwich and retired in 1979 from The Greenwich Grade School System after 18 years of service, during which time she also worked part time in the bakery at the Bait Box Restaurant in Greenwich. She was a member of the Greenwich Baptist Church and the Greenwich Historical Society.

Her survivors include, five sons, Randolph H. Bates, Jr. of Greenwich, Robin L. Bates of Cumberland County Medical Center, Richard L. Bates of Mays Landing, Roger B. Bates of Westfield and Russell L. Bates of Greenwich. A daughter, Reah Ann Bruce of Greenwich, three grandchildren Russell L. Bates, JR., Hollis A. Bruce III and Randi Bruce, a sister, Jean Bates of Somers Point.

Funeral Services will be conducted from the Brooks West Side Funeral Home, 181 Atlantic Street, Bridgeton, on Friday afternoon, January 19th, at 1:00p.m. with the Rev. Robert Oakley, Pastor of the Greenwich Baptist Church and the Rev. Ronald C. Dixon, Pastor of The Pearl Street Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be made in the Greenwich Baptist Cemetery, Greenwich. Friends will be received one hour prior to services at the Brooks Funeral Home.
